Chondros are fairly large terrestrial geckos that can grow a little over 6-inches in length. A 20-gallon (high or long) enclosure is a good minimum size for an adult but could adequately house a pair (1.1 ) as well.
This is a terrestrial gecko native to the western desert regions of southern Africa. Namely western Namibia, Botswana and South Africa. This is one of the most inhospitable regions in the world, with summer daytime temperatures in excess of 104o F and winter night time temperatures of 50o F. Annual rainfall is only 8 inches. This indicates that the animal is a hardy species and can withstand a wide range of conditions, making it fairly easy to keep.

Males should not be housed together as they are highly territorial and will create stress for everyone.
Giant Namibian Sand Geckos
Chondrodactylus angulifer angulifer
These geckos are one of the more interesting species that we keep. These large, heavy bodied geckos are often referred to as the Bulldog Gecko (for obvious reasons) or the Granular-fingered Gecko (referring to the comb like scales on it's toes, used for easier movement in sand).

My name is Michael Hance and I am a senior at UTK. My major is cell biology with a concentration in veterinary medicine. I am currently working with a number of species of geckos which are listed below. I offer only the finest captive bred geckos availible. I produce a very limited number of animals, because this is my hobby, so if there is a particular species that you are interested let me know early. Thank you for your business.
For over thirty years, Tim Tytle has acquired geckos from around the world to produce a captive bred collection unlike any other. Tim Tytle pioneered husbandry techniques that herpetoculturists continue to follow today.
