The Definitive Book on Chameleon Husbandry.
It covers feeding, caging, care specific to many different and exotic species, and basic medical information as well. The book is well written and covers topics thoroughly. The pictures are superb and the author's personal experience keeping chameleons and other herps is very reassuring and lends to her credibility. I wish I had got this book first, if I had, I would have never bought the deVosjoli or Bartlett books. I spent way more than twice the cost of Davison's book buying 5 or 6 other books about chameleons--all of which have outdated, incorrect and/or incomplete information.

This is one of the first monographs to present a comprehensive study of the natural history of a single high-profile lizard species, the popular Malagasy panther chameleon. It is the first attempt to come to grips with the complex, often confusing, color variation of the species and illustrates these variations with 69 beautiful color photographs. The authors have drawn from the scattered literature, their extensive experience, and experimental study in the field and laboratory to provide original information and conclusions. They emphasize both the known and the unknown, presenting clear avenues for future investigation. They make a case for the panther chameleon as a model organism with value for research, education, herpetoculture, and conservation. This work also reviews the history of keeping chameleons in captivity and provides up-to-date guidelines for captive management of the panther chameleon based on the authors' own multigeneration captive colony.

I got my first chameleon almost a year ago... and with it I got this book. Chameleons are very complex animals that require a lot of attention and care. Luckily, this book helps take some of the complexity out of owning one! It covers everything from correct habitat conditions to what kinds of food they eat. I recommend this book for the beginner chameleon owner.... if you are more experienced with them and plan on breeding or something, you might want to look past this book... as it is fairly basic
